| To all current
and potential retiree members
Dear Brothers & Sisters,
The Retirees Club
of Local 19 was formed especially to provide an opportunity for our retired
members to get together on occasion and meet old friends who worked with
each other for years either directly or indirectly, and who, after retirement,
drift apart and seldom if ever see each other again.
We also talk about
matters of importance to senior citizens at our meetings. We invite
guest speakers and/or discuss special subjects of interest to us and generally
try to make them interesting and informative. We also consider and
act upon the matters constantly arising that seriously affect all of the
retirees.
Meetings are held once
each month on the second (2nd) Tuesday at the union hall (1301 S. Columbus
Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19147) at 10:00am except for the months of June,
July & August. We have a continental breakfast and lunch served
at all of the meetings.
Our next meeting will
be on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 10:00am.
The first order of
business will be the election of officers for the club. We will also
have a guest speaker attending this meeting who is a specialist on reverse
mortgages. His name is Ronald Allen and he is from Acre Mortgage.
When possible, Joe Sellers, President/Business Manager likes to address
the retirees at our meetings. We are hoping to have him speak at
the next meeting in September regarding the elections and other information
he may have to fill us in on, so it will be a very good meeting to attend
for your first time if you are able.
To all non-members
(including the retirees of Central Pennsylvania and Delaware) of the club,
we extend an invitation to you all and would like you to attend our meetings,
come and break bread with your old friends. The dues for the club
are $25.00 per year, make checks payable to Retiree’s Club of Local 19
and mail to the hall. We have a spring luncheon every year and a
Christmas party. We also try to have outings that you can attend
like going to a Phillies game or touring Washington DC and depending on
the response we would also like to add trips to Gettysburg and the Baseball
Hall of Fame. We need to have at least 45 people for the trips to
be successful. Please contact Bill LaSalvia at 609-388-4775 and Ed
Needham at 215-757-8861 if you are interested in any of the above mentioned
trips.
We look forward to having
you attend,
Fraternally,
William (Bill) LaSalvia,
President
