Retiree's Newsletter...
Fall, 2011
TO ALL CURRENT MEMBERS AND POTENTIAL NEW MEMBERS

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

The Retirees’ Club of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union No. 19 was formed to provide opportunity for our retired members to get together on occasion to rekindle old friendships which seem to drift apart following retirement from our great Union.  These social gatherings also provide opportunity to assure that issues that affect retirees are heard by representatives of the Union and the Benefit Funds Office.  We strongly encourage all retirees to join the Retirees’ Club and support our efforts.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month (except June-August) beginning at 10:00 AM in the Local 19 Union Hall.  The November meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 as the second Tuesday in November is Election Day.

During our first meeting to be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, we will have the Pension Fund’s Actuary, James McKeogh of The McKeogh Company in attendance.  Mr. McKeogh will be there to explain the Annual Funding Notice (which will be sent out in August by the Funds Office) and answer any additional questions the retirees have regarding the Pension Fund.  We need all retirees to stay active and support the Pension Fund. Remember; active or retired, this is our Pension Fund.

The October 11, 2011 meeting will feature representatives from the Social Security Administration, as well as representatives from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.  These benefits are currently under attack in Washington DC and we need to educate all of our members in an effort to protect these benefits from government cuts.

We will continue to have guest speakers throughout the year, and again I urge you to join if you are not a current member of the Retirees’ Club.  Membership dues are Thirty Dollars ($30.00) per year (September – August).  Make checks payable to the Retirees Club of Local #19 and mail to the above address.  Included with your dues are a continental breakfast and lunch during each meeting.

Elections for Officers of the Retirees’ Club will be held at the beginning of the September 13, 2011 meeting in accordance with our by-laws.

Looking forward to having you as a member of the Retirees’ Club

Fraternally yours,

William (Bill) LaSalvia, President
