The
Sign makers industry had been around for 75 years until recently merging
with Local 19 in April 1st of 2006. Sign makers and Sign Hangers also represent
the Billboard workers and production shops who make Cans and other
various metal products.
The workers of Sign
makers are responsible for projects such as Citizens Bank Park for the
Phillies, Campbell's Field for Camden River Sharks, American Airlines arena,
Caesars in Atlantic City, the Prince Music theater, Prudential Financial
Spectacular in Times Sqare, and many others. Since signing with Local 19,
sign makers have maximized their industry.
With the use of the
training center and a five year apprenticeship program, apprentices are
now able to increase their training and gain certifications in areas such
as welding. These apprentices come out of the training center with many
opportunities to begin working in shops, work on location sites such as
casinos, and a few are now actually returning back to the training center
to teach newly admitted workers.
