The Apprentice and Training Committee of Local #19 Central PA accepts applications year round (see log-in page link above and follow instructions) Central PA has one applicant screening test conducted in the spring of each year for the selection of the next years apprentice class additional testing may be available in Philadelphia. 

Applicants should have completed Basic Algebra, Trigonometry, and Geometry.


 Nondiscriminatory Policy
The Sheet Metal Workers JATC of Central PA admits apprentices of any race, color, sex, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to Sheet Metal Apprentices by the committee. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, and national origin in administration of any of its policies or programs.
Successful applicants will be required to serve four and one half years of apprenticeship and to take a minimum of 576 hours of related instruction.  School will start in September.  The work is in shops and construction sites, and requires good physical condition.  The applicant should have above average mechanical and mathematical abilities, and like shop and mechanical drawing courses.  The wage rate starts low and progresses at regular intervals during the four and one half year apprenticeship.  There are excellent union fringe benefits.

Only applicants that have completed the proper application process will be allowed to register with the Training Center for a time and place of examination. Those making the test cutoff will be notified for time and place of interview to determine qualifications, aptitude, ability and character.  All applicants will be notified of their status after the initial testing. Further, the Applicant will be subject to a physical examination to determine if the Applicant can perform the duties of a Sheet Metal Worker and will be subject to drug testing at any time during the application process. Applicants must possess a valid PA driver's license. Applicants will be placed depending on workload.  Most placements will take place in late June.

Applicants:
The Sheet Metal Workers Joint Apprentice and Training Committee of Central PA accepts applications on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9AM to 5PM during the month of February. For the rest of the year applications are accepted on the second Monday of each month between the hours of 9AM and 5PM. Completed applications can also be mailed to the Training Center in Shoemakersville with all the proper paper work attached.

Note: The Sheet Metal Workers’ JATF of Local 19, Central PA admits apprentices of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to apprentices at the JATF.  The JATF does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other JATF administered programs.
