Journeyperson Courses
A full curriculum of journeyperson courses is held every year, with all of the classes being held at night or on weekends. Tuition is subsidized by the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Fund. The journeyperson’s portion of the tuition is minimal and must be paid in advance. The journeyperson’s tuition will be completely refunded with 100% attendance.
Among other classes offered, these courses are available every training period:
TESTING, ADJUSTING AND BALANCING
During this two-year program journeypersons learn how to check and adjust mechanical systems to meet the objectives of the design engineer for comfort and economy.  This includes: balancing the distribution of air and water;  adjusting the system to meet design quantities;  and verifying the performance of all equipment and automatic controls. This course consists of 42 classes with the hands-on portion done in our lab. This lab is one of the best in the country and is used to promote and qualify TAB Technicians for certification by International Training Institute and the National Energy Management Institute.
SKETCHING
In this one-year program journeypersons become familiar with structural, architectural and mechanical plans and specifications.  These documents are then used to develop sheet metal shop drawing for fabrication and installation.  Other topics include duct design, load calculations and applied mathematics.

COMPUTER AND DRAFTING
This class is dedicated to the AutoCAD software, the most commonly used software on the market today. It is open to anyone with sketching experience and responsibilities include the development of background work and the translation of CAD drawings. We also offer courses on two other software packages CAD Pipe and EC CAD. These systems are used to create the design fabrication and installation drawings for HVAC and specialty systems.

WELDING
This course provides both the theory and practical skills needed to perform vital welding skills.  Instruction takes place in the classroom and our welding shop on all-position welding.  Each of our inspectors holds a Certified Welding inspectors certificate under the A.W.S. QC-1 program.  Training programs include:
SMAW – Shielded Metal Arc Welding

GMAW – Gas Metal Arc Welding

GTAW – Gas Tungsten Arc Welding

FCAW – Flux Cored Arc Welding

CAW – Carbon Arc Welding

Orbital Welding

The International Training Institute and the American Welding Society along with Hartford Steam Boiler has established our Training Center as an Accreditation Test Facility which can provide certification to qualified welders.
EARNING A DEGREE
Journeypersons can also use courses at the Training Center to expand their education and fulfill dreams of earning a college degree through the Collegiate Consortium which consists of Drexel University and four Communities Colleges which are Camden County, Bucks County, Philadelphia Community College and Delaware County Community. Apprentices that graduate from the program can receive up to 29 transferable college credits. Journeypersons and apprentices have the
opportunity to receive an Associates Degree in Construction Technologies from the Community Colleges or continue their education and earn a Bachelors Degree at Drexel University.
